About Rye
Rye powers the infrastructure behind agentic commerce — enabling AI agents and applications to autonomously complete purchases from any online store. Founded in 2021 by Arjun Bhargava (ex-Reddit) and Justin Kan (Twitch co-founder), Rye’s Universal Checkout API solves the fundamental problem that’s blocked AI-driven shopping for years: merchant fraud detection systems that reject automated transactions.
With just a product URL and tokenized payment method, Rye handles price resolution, tax calculation, shipping options, and checkout completion in seconds — achieving 99.9% order reliability and sub-10 second checkout latency across any web store while maintaining PCI compliance.
